This class will help you manage your weight, reduce stress, increase your strength and improve your flexibility & circulation!

Yava Yoga created and developed by Cynthia Bialek, is a form of Hatha Yoga influenced by energy of Ashtanga Yoga, the disciplines of Anusara and Inyengar Yoga, and the insightfulness of Integral Yoga.

Yava Yoga combines functional preparatory movements into the flow of asanas (yoga poses) to improve the safety and success of practicing Yoga.  Every class includes a blend of balance, flexion, extension, torsion, and relaxation to equalize the stimulation of all major organs in the body.

Yava Yoga takes a specific and methodical approach to restructuring the body, to become refined both physically and mentally and to learn how to prevent injuries by "listening to your own body".

ZUMBA & ZUMBA/FUSION FAQ'S
How long are your classes?
All of our classes are 1 hour classes.

What  should I bring to a ZUMBA or ZUMBA/FUSION class?

Most importantly bring your enthusiasm to class. Additionally bring plenty of water and dress in comfortable and light work out clothes.

What kind of shoes should I wear to a ZUMBA or ZUMBA/FUSION class?

Don't show up with your high heel dancing shoes!  Instead were comfortable sneakers.  The definition of comfortable is different for each person - some might need more arch support than others for example.  Keep in mind that in Zumba there are lot's of lateral movements and pivoting/turning so a sneaker that let's you "slide" a little might be better than one that will stop you in your tracks. (If you are going shoe shopping, look for a pivot circle at the bottom of the shoe.)

I don't know how to dance. Will I still be able to take the ZUMBA or ZUMBA/FUSION class?

Absolutely YES!  You do not need to know how to dance.  The moves are simple and easy to pick up, especially if you keep coming to class.

What kind of age group takes ZUMBA or ZUMBA/FUSION classes?

Any age group can participate.  Remember that it is YOUR class and you move as fast or as slow as you feel is right for you.

How many calories can I burn during a one hour ZUMBA or ZUMBA/FUSION class?

That is totally up to you.  The more you "shake it" the more calories you will loose and sculpt your body. Generally you can burn between 500 and 800 calories an hour.

Other Tips regarding ZUMBA & ZUMBA/FUSION classes:

  • Don't worry about counting steps or looking the same as the person next to you, just have FUN!

  • Don't worry about the sequence of the steps as much as focusing on having FUN!

  • Oh, and did I mentioned yet.....have FUN with the class and if you find a song that moves you, you are more than welcome to bust out your own moves!

YOGA FAQ'S

What  should I bring to YOGA class?

A limited amount of yoga mats are available.  If you do have your own Yoga mat we recommend that you bring it with you.  It is also recommended you bring a yoga block especially if you are new to Yoga.

I have never done Yoga before.  Is your class right for me?

Yes! The yoga class we currently offer at Lady of America is an Intro-Intermediate class.  Modifications to traditional yoga poses will be shown so that everyone can participate and enjoy the class including beginners.

I am not flexible at all.  Why should I try Yoga?

It is not important how flexible you are.  The importance in practicing Yoga is the progress that each individual will see over time and within their own limitations.
